It’s 2024. Webmailor is still in use and running.

Wow, it’s been a long time since the last post. But with Starlink available for the marine sector, I was unsure if Webmailor is still needed.

But I was proven wrong, and I am happy about it 🥳.

Webmailor is working, and we still have 70-80 active users per month.

What has changed is that there is no feedback for any additional services needed or bugs reported over the last year. As I am busy with my job providing sustainable web services to clients worldwide (check out https://diterra.io if you are interested), I am only doing maintenance and bugfixes for Webmailor. If you have special requests or missing something, please feel free to reach out via email.

Known issues:

  • If an SSB Service is used, the max payload is 5kb per message. Sometimes, the request can’t be split correctly, so no request is returned.
  • Sometimes, the preferred language for Google requests set in the user Profile does not work for FR and ES users. This is still a known bug with the Google API.

I am planning to let the service run for free as it is now, as the costs are quite low and there are no big issues.

Fair winds,
Patrick
